But God, “I’m just….”

“God has a big calling on your life!”

“God can do big things through you!”

“Wow, God has huge plans for you!”

I don’t know about you but these are phrases that I hear and read all over the Christian community. And let me tell you, they’re true!

Now pause for a minute – If you’re anything like me when I hear these phrases I not only get a rush of excitement and anticipation for what God is going to do with my life but also, maybe it causes you to feel a sense of pressure to live up to this “BIG” calling. And then you start to remember that,  “you’re just…”

For example: “Well I’m just a college student” or “I’m just a girl from a small town”  or “I’m just a stay at home mom” or “Well I’m just quiet and shy”  or even “Well I’m not ….. enough” so how in the world am I going to do something big for God? And all of a sudden you begin to feel unworthy, unqualified, and not good enough to be chosen for a “big” plan.

But you see- these “i’m just…” thoughts are whispers and lies from the enemy to stop you from fulfilling that calling. No matter where we go, or what we do there will always be someone reminding you that “you’re just…” even if it’s yourself that won’t let you forget.

But when the enemy comes at you to discourage you from trusting God to use you , let’s remember this – even Jesus himself had the “Well He’s just…” people.

“Then they scoffed, He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers – James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All His sisters live right here among us, Where did he learn all of these things? And they were deeply offended and refused to obey Him.” Matthew 13:55-57

But you see – while these people were busy being concerned with what he “just” was.. God was using Him to preform signs, and miracles.  He was preaching amazing sermons and teaching people how to live for God. I just know that God was looking down and proud of the work His Son was doing on this earth and He was looking forward knowing that this carpenter’s son was going to save all of humanity on that cross. The fact that He was just a carpenter’s son wasn’t a surprise to God. No, God chose the virgin Mary and the carpenter Joseph to bring His son into the world to show His strength and His power.

So sister, NEVER let the | i’m justs | in your life discourage you from trusting in God’s calling on your life. Because after all- it has NEVER been about who you are, what you know, or what you have. But it has always been about how big, powerful, all knowing and sovereign our God is. So take off those chains of the |I’m justs | in your life and trust God for the plan for your life. Just watch, those BIG plans will start unveiling before your eye.
