This one’s for the fatherless on Father’s day…

I don’t know about you ladies, but growing up my dad wasn’t always around and he certainly wasn’t the constant in my life. If this is true for you as well, then you’ll understand me when I say that I struggled with the concept of a “Daddy God”. I couldn’t understand this view of God as a provider, as a ever present Father. That’s when I read Ephesians 1:4-5 which says, “Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.”

Y’all I don’t know about you but that verse completely WRECKS me every time I read it. That verse says that before the earth was formed, before Gensis 1:1 ever happened, the Lord knew us. He knew the struggles we would face, He knew the loneliness we would feel, the fatherlessness we would walk through. Therefore, He decided then and there that He would adopt us into His royal family. I want to give you the definition of adoption: legally made the son or daughter of someone other than a biological parent. Do you realize what this means? Do you know what He’s done? Before He made the world, He made us LEGALLY, BINDING, FOREVER His!!

So if you’re feeling lost and fatherless this Father’s Day, I urge you to remember that your father is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He has plucked you from your family line and placed you into His. He has made you a co-heir with Jesus Christ. You, my sweet sweet sister, are a child of the One True King. Rest in that with me this Father’s Day and rejoice that you have a Father that is able to do always more than your heart could ever dream.
